Realme is set to showcase its latest innovation in proprietary fast charging technology on August 14 during Realme’s annual 828 Fan Fest in Shenzhen, China. The announcement, which was confirmed on Thursday, has sparked speculation that it could be related to the long-awaited 300W fast charging technology. Francis Wong, Global Marketing Director at Realme, hinted at the development of this technology back in June.

Realme Fast Charging Technology Announcement

At the unveiling, Realme will highlight four key innovations that have contributed to the development of its latest fast charging technology: charging power, battery technology, converter size, and power reduction design. The event, scheduled to take place at Realme‘s headquarters, will also showcase other upcoming technologies in artificial intelligence, performance, and imaging, all aimed at enhancing the smartphone experience.

The new fast charging technology is expected to revolutionize the charging experience, with rumors suggesting it could charge a smartphone battery up to 50 percent in under three minutes and from zero to 100 percent in just five minutes. Currently, the company offers 240W fast charging in its Realme GT Neo 5 exclusive to China, boasting the ability to charge the 4,600mAh battery from zero to 50 percent in four minutes and zero to 100 percent in less than ten minutes.

Elsewhere in the market, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi gave a glimpse of a 300W charging technology earlier in the year, demonstrating its capability to fill up a 4,100mAh battery in less than five minutes. Known as the “300W Immortal Second Charger,” this technology is yet to be implemented in mainstream smartphones.

Aside from the fast charging revelation, Realme is also anticipated to unveil its latest smartphone, the Realme GT 7 Pro. This device is set to launch in India in the latter half of 2024 and could potentially be one of the first smartphones globally to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.
