4G to account for 17% of India’s total user base by 2020, 4G revenues to reach Rs 80K cr

4gIndian telecom industry’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) or 4G revenues will reach around Rs 80,000 crore in the next few years, significantly transforming the revenue mix of service providers, according to an ASSOCHAM-KPMG report.

The joint report said that high speed 4G connections would account for 17 per cent of the total user base by the year 2020. “The entire business mix of the telecom industry is going to witness a sea change. The unveiling of 4G on a large scale by one of the largest corporate houses, is going to be a major development,” the joint report added. Mukesh Ambani-led 4G telco Reliance Jio launched its operation with a “Welcome Offer” on September 5, offering services free of cost till December 31, 2016. Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Idea Cellular and RCom are also offering high-speed 4G LTE services in the country. Source
