Guess what? Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) is spreading its wings into the Asia-Pacific region by acquiring land in Chennai, India, for a new data center project. Last week, they snagged a 10-acre plot in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and they have big plans!

Colt DCS’s Growth Spurt in India

This marks the company’s second data center venture in India, following the launch of its first center in Mumbai back in September 2023. According to TelecomTalk, Colt DCS believes the Indian data center market has tons of potential and they’re eager to support its progress.

Colt DCS shared, “India is a key focus for us, and with our new site in Chennai, we’re doubling down on our commitment to the region. This expansion will make it easier for our customers to grow and thrive in this dynamic market.”

Chennai is a crucial hub with super-fast network speeds and a vital link for fiber networks connecting India to the world. The upcoming hyperscale facility in Ambattur, Chennai, will be Colt’s 18th data center globally, featuring two buildings across a 76,000 sqm area.

By 2027, the Chennai site will boast a minimum IT capacity of 70 MW, meeting Tier 3 specifications. Colt is also keen on environmental sustainability, working with local partners to reduce emissions and boost the area’s economy.

In addition to the Chennai venture, Colt DCS is revving up its Navi Mumbai Data Centre project on a spacious 15-acre plot. The first phase is complete with 18 MW capacity, set to reach 120 MW in total with a 62,000 sqm area. Impressive, right?!
